2. YAMAGATA YAMADERA

                                                                                 FROM "LIFE OF PI" TO "KITTI"

      

Super Komachi, the new shinkansen goes up to Tohoku too and has been released this same day March 16th  but he takes the way to Akita and I go to Yamagata.

 

                                                                                

Yamagata old prefectural office from Meiji period built in neo barocan style is a city highlight .

                   

The statue of Mogami is quite rare in Japan because the horse is rearing up two leg.

The Clan Mogami was important in shogunate XVII century.

 

Yamagata-shi kyodokan hall is a beautiful wood building from Meiji period that also has been reconstructed . Doctor Albrecht  Von Roretz from Austria was invited to taught western medical science at this Hospital (XIX century).

And before to do the so many stairs to go up the temple of Yamadera the best is to eat the traditional "Yamagata´s soba".

Yamagata means "mountain-shape".

Yamadera in the mountains beside the city means "mountain-temple".

Highest mount around is "Zao" 1.841mt. an skiing resort.

Yamadera is a complex of temples hanged across the hill.

                                                                 

Founded in 860 AD by the buddhist priest Ennin (Jikaku Daishi), he became the chief priest of the Tendai sect at Enryaku-ji (Mt. Hiei in Kyoto). Yamadera also named Risshaku-ji was founded as a branch temple of Enryaku-ji on Mt. Hiei near Kyoto.

This mood of conciliate Life and Soul is one of my points of appreciation of Japan.

Aspects of regular life can be respectfully integrated.

1. SHINJUKU COUNTERPOINT

Shinjuku is a mess, a crossroads, a commercial center, a business place, a turistic focus, a popular area with peculiar personality -gay district or kabukicho are also there- , the base of the metropolitan government...

So many offices, universities such as Kogakuin (School of Architecture).

Private schools such as the quite diversified that holds three different topics under the same roof or "huevera metálica", the new skyscraper:          

"Cocoon Tower".

School of Arts, IT, Health share this building.

Same as "Uniqlo" shares a building, without any distinction, with "Big Camera", -a photography "category killer"- , crossing sinergies in one Uniqlo floor appealing for visit the Big camera one, and opposite.

Diversify and stablished sinergies. Be precise with the customers.  As well as Tanita, world leader in precision electronic scales break in food market with the opening of restaurants such as the succesfull one in Marunochi area.

To be precise with the costumer on the way as the new vending machines have a camera in front of the costumers to consider his/her profile and display -according to that- the most accurate offer of a bigger stock that couldn´t be shown on   the regular ones. 

 

But hectic Shinjuku. Well known as one of the busiest stations in the world, subway, trains, buses... and all what I have said above has a beautiful counterpoint at Shinjuku Gyoen´s Gardens.

Assigned by the emperor to the people long time ago and impeccably maintained by a reasonable entry price.

Every shop window has a sakura motif,  every restaurant a sakura menu, but sakura has not still arrived although it is anxiously wait.

Or let´s say it has not arrived to its "hanami" summit that do great pic-nic meetings under the sakura trees of Ueno Park not so far from Shinjuku.

Any way some plum trees, magnolias and others have already blossom.
